Upgrading to Vista or not.....

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I am considering buying a new desktop running Vista.
Can I tranfer my accounts programs to a new pc eventhough
I dont have any orignal disks?I dont see setting my old HD as a slave as
being option
as the desktop I was looking at will be sata drives only.Thanks for some
advise.
