Re: start up

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

I'm not sure why it didn't work but I see Daave got you to where you wanted to be. I'll add his link to my notes.

I ticked the box to replace the check mark and have restarted. I am back where I was earlier; on loading windows I get the window that asks me to log on to windows and I then have to click OK to confirm that Stewart is the correct user name. The computers are NOT password protected.
What do you think would happen if I deleted the names of Administrator and Aspnet from the window that comes up after doing the "run" as you suggested?
Thanks again

Can you set it back to the way it was?

Start > Run > control userpasswords2

Place a check mark next to Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

And then explore what restrictions are on the account?

Sorry both, I did what you suggested and am now slightly worse off.
I unticked the box but when I start now I get an error message reading "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction".
I then change this and enter my name "Stewart" to get access.
There are 3 names in the box that comes up after the "run" menu; they are "Administrator, ASPNET, and Stewart.
When I start the computer it comes up as Administrator and not as Stewart.
Is there any way I can change that?
Thanks again.

I have a laptop and a desktop. both running windows xp.
Both of them require me to click something before they will continue to start up; that is to confirm I am the user or to log in with my name.
How can I change the settings to get the computer to go right through the start up process without any additional steps by me when I switch them on?
I am owner/administrator for both machines.
Thank you.
Start > Run > control userpasswords2

Remove the check mark next to Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
