The "Wake the computer to run this task" option on the Settings
page of a scheduled task's properties *** will only work if
the computer is in Standby mode. This applies to both desktops
and laptops.

If the computer has been set to Hibernate, it is essentially
shut down. Waking up a computer that is hibernating is a
function of its hardware. Windows XP is incapable of
automatically starting your computer to run scheduled tasks.
Many computers have an option in their BIOS settings to
schedule the computer to start up at a certain time of day.
Check the documentation for your system to see if your computer
supports this feature. If you're not sure, post back with the
make and model number of your computer.
