Were you ever able to successfully uninstall ie7 and downgrade to ie6? if so, what were the steps you used? (I need to do this same thing to allow for remote access to a work computer).

The steps are simple and straight-forward:

Using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet, simply select Internet Explorer 7 and click the Remove button. The system will revert to IE6.
