You're talking about Internet Explorer? Quite a while back, with
an early version of IE5, you could just type in "Microsoft" and
it would take you to microsoft.com. If there wasn't any such
thing, then it would try microsoft.org, and a couple of others.
However, that facility is long gone. What you now get, if you
don't put .com (or .org, etc.) is a search page.
However one can type just Microsoft, and press Ctrl-Enter instead of just
Enter. That adds www. at the beginning and .com at the end.

I know windows has short cut so that you dont have to type .com at the
end.
Instead one can do something else but i can remember what that is. I
looked
in the help section but cant find it or maybe i missed it there. If
someone
