Re: No task bar

Can you get a clue by right clicking on your network connection, click
status, then support tab?

Gerry,

I have two computers that run through Linksys ethernet router, and WebStar
cable modem. The ISP is Cox Communications. One is Windows Vista Ultimate,
which I am using now, the other is my wife's Windows XP fully updated.
Both work fine.

I have a switch for the flat panel monitor for the functional Windows XP,
mouse, keyboard for easy introduction of disfunctional computers. It
requires manual removal and insertion of the ethernet cable from one to
the other.

In between sessions of trying to get the disfunctional computer working,
my wife is able to work on her Windows XP system.

Have you tried disconnecting the power supply to the modem / router.
Waiting 2 minutes and then reconnecting the power supply. Otherwise check
all physical cable connections.

What type of modem / router is involved. Is it wireless, ethernet or USB?

Hope this helps.

Peter Foldes,

That worked perfectly. The task bar is now active.

Still have this problem is bigger that previously posted.

There is also no internet connection on my LAN.

When I enter Safe mode with Command Prompt (As Administrator) and
enter ipconfig /all
I get the message:
Windows IP Configuration
An Internal Error has occured: The request is not supported.
Contact MS...
Additional Information: Unable to query host name.
