You are doing nothing wrong. You post your question or problem here and get
your answers or solutions here. You cannot send an email to Peter or most
anyone else.

Peter,
Thanks for informing me of the Newsgroup for "Word". However, I do not
understand your statement "Requests for assistance by email can not and
will not be acknowledged". I thought these forums were used to describe
problems and request assistance from anyone who has information that might
shed some light on resolving them. I see this happening all the time.
Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Charles Ranheim

I could not find a "MS Word" newsgroup, so I am placing my question here.
A
while ago, when I opened my MS Word right after booting my machine, it
was
immediately available to open or search for the record I wanted. Since
then,
I have installed several suggested updates over time. It is now at Word
2002, SP3. Somewhere along the line, it is no longer ready to open or
search
for a record when I first open it. It may take at least 30 seconds before
I
can actually use it, like it is loading something before actually being
ready for use. Once this time has gone by, it stays available immediately
for any other searches. I am running Windows XP home edition with all the
latest updates. I have tried to find some option that would make my Word
program ready right after windows comes up like it used to do, but have
had
no luck. I have not tried reloading the program from my original CD's I
got
from Dell with my machine over 4 years ago, because it would be very
down-level, and I may not be able to get back to the level I am now
using.
I can still use the Word program, but I have to go through this delay the
first time I try using it after starting up my XP system. When I did not
have this delay in the past, I don't think windows was starting and
running
automatically. I would always have to start it from my home page. What
changed is the delay it now takes before I can do a search. However, I
can
still start creating a new file immediately after starting the program. I
just can't open any existing files until after this delay. I would
appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks, Charles Ranheim
