WinZip is a third party application www.winzip.com . It is not distributed
by Microsoft nor is it included with any Microsoft operating systems.
Since Windows Me Microsoft has included a compression program that will
open and save files with the .zip extension. It is called Compressed
Folders and is integrated into the shell
If you install third party compression or zipping apps like WinZip you can
disable the Windows compressed folder feature:
click on Start -> Run and enter the following command:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll
To enable ZIP folder support again run this command:
regsvr32 zipfldr.dll
Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Using XP-Media Edition and Office 2003.
I thought WinZip was available through XP, but I cannot seem to find it.
Is this a separate program I need to purchase? What options do I have on
XP to zip a file or a photo for emailing??
.
