I have had a chance to try it out and sure enough it hung again. No amount
of
pressing of any keys had any effect in fact the keyboard and the mouse
have
no effect whatsoever. I tried to make something happen by pressing every
key
on the keyboard but nothing. The funny thing is that all else appears as
normal, it downloads mail and it tells me when someone logs onto messenger
but I can do nothing but press the power key to shut it down and then
again
to reboot. Pity that Micro Soft are not interested but they probably know
of
this fault and have no cure thinking that Vista will cure all!!!!!

When you get to it, go to the Microsoft site and search for 'standby
hang'.

Hi Unknown! yes this is each and every time. I haven't tried the Alt
Tab
yet
as it is such a palavar to get it running again that when I am busy
like
now
I am ashamed to say I leave the machine running all day eating up kw of
wasted power. When I get the chance i will try Alt tab and let you
know.
Wht
doesn't an MS MVP answer this? Are they aware that this is a fault and
won't
say? At least some feedback from MS would be useful?

What happens if you click Alt and Tab when hung??

When I wake my machine up after a Stand-By everything looks normal
and
I
get
the user log in screen (I don't need the boot up to stop here as I
am
the
only user) but the computer is frozen. I can't move the mouse and
even
a
control/alt/delete has no effect. My only option is a complete
power
down
and up with the resulting tests and checks. Any ideas as to why this
is
and
how I can over come it.
Thanks Charlie
