I recently had trouble with my cable internet and replaced my
modem...then the network operations had to force my modem to work
probably because of some update...anyway, since then, my XP startup
has been lagging and I read online it's probably due to connecting to
the network using DHCP...how can I correct this? I even did the
spyware removal and disabled startup items I didn't need, etc. Hope
someone can help me out here..shutdown is great as before, but startup
lags when icons appear and then can't do anything for over a min.
another thing that I have just noticed is that I ear a popping sound
after XP loads..it's the sound you hear when say a pop up balloon
would appear, but I have the balloon tips disabled...maybe whatever
that sound means, might have something to do with my start lag..when
it happes the taskbar pops up as well and then I move off of it then
it goes back to autohide.
just did a sound check in my audio and sound devices...the popping
balloon sound was linked to system notification servies. I don't see
any error pop up though...gonna google some more and hope that someone
can help me out.
sorry to post again so fast, but checked event viewer and got this
