Laptop is very slow, any tool to fix this slow problem?

I have a XP Laptop, it takes lot of time to open internet (sometimes
no response at all), I can see some processes occupies 80% of the CPU
time, if I end that task, then it is little faster, any tools to fix
this slow problem, appreciated.
also I can see lot of internet explorer windows open automatically
(online poker), sometimes somany windiows (30 to 40), any solution to
fix this problem also. thanks.
