Re: No sound

I just tried that but it couldn't find a driver from windows update.. I
guess I will just wait to get another motherboard... with onboard sound..
hopefully I will find a place that sells them inexpensively...

My friend does not have the cd that came with it.. he fixes computers and
and picks up computers from garage sales.. most of which don't come with
cd's. Thanks for your help. you sure have been reliable to respond.. Rainy

Hello,

Have you tried searching windows update for it? When it asks you for the
driver, select to search Windows Update. Access Device Manager, right-click
the device and click Update.

Otherwise you may have to ask your friend for the CD Driver or search the
Internet for one as it looks pretty old.

Finally my friend had an older sound card and my other friend installed
it...(I have sound, yeah! ) but don't have the driver for it.. this
afternoon I searched for it.. ended up filling out forms to supposedly get
the driver.. and all they were doing was marketing me.. )
www.driverguide.com I have one exclamation in device manager..
Multimedia
Audio Controller so I'm assuming that is because there is no driver.. :)

here's the information that Aida32 found:
Creative SB PCI128 (Ensoniq ES1371) Sound Card PCI
VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller PCI

I'm really having a time trying to find it... I have been to Creative...
and
it doesn't appear that any of the numbers match up to any of the sound
card
drivers that are provided.. any help would be appreciate..

BTW.. I uninstalled the driver for the sound card that was inboard and
reinstalled it. It just refused to work no matter what I did.. Then
uninstalled it while I was waiting for the new sound card..

thanks Rainy

Hello,

This may be too late - but one of our users had this problem and we fixed
it
by uninstalling the driver from Device Manager and automatically
reinstalling it back after reboot.

If it fails to find the driver, download the latest one from your
manufacturer and install it.

Let me know if it helps.

Hello,

It is coming from a built-in speaker in your casing. Windows defaults to
using that if it can't find an audio device.

Hi,

I have no sound... no system sounds, and nothing plays on media
player...
I
would appreciate help on this... been trying to resolve this for days
now...
and have tried many different things to solve this problem on my
own...from
the very obvious to not so obvious (to me anyway)..

Volume is not muted and everything is either half way up or all the way
up

In Sounds and Audio devices in control panel.. my sound card is
selected.

No conflicts or errors listed in device manager
My driver is listed (properties says it's working properly)
no other drivers are listed!

One website said it might be a corrupted OS.. so I repaired it.. still
no
sound

Took the speakers to my friends house and connected them to her speaker,
they work fine.. and yes they are connected to the right plug on the
back
of
my computer.. it's all color coded.. so I know which hole to plug it
into..:)

It was suggested I see if my sound card is enabled in bios but don't
know
how to do this.. I can get to bios but..

Appreciate any help I receive... thanks Rainy.

Ps.. my friend and I think it might be a bad port.. is there a way to
test
the port online?
