That depends entirely on the computer. If you have an older computer without
hardware adequate for Vista, yes Vista will very likely run more slowly that
whatever operating system is running now.

However, if you have a modern computer with adequate hardware, Vista will
run just fine on it. I've seen no slowdown on my computer with Vista here.

Also note that exactly the same has been true of *every* new version of
Windows (and many new versions of other software). Newer versions come with
improvements and new features, and it takes better hardware to run them. So
Windows 95 needed more hardware than 95, 98, needed more than 95, 2000 more
than 98, etc.

some things
would have to be changed(graphics card),

Again, that depends on what you start with. I didn't change any hardware on
my system when I upgraded to Vista.

and it takes a lot of power
to run vista.

Power? You mean electrical power? How much electrical power is required is a
function of the hardware, not the software.

Now I have heard this from a computer technician, and a
salesperson that works where they sell windows vista. So I thought I
would ask this group theiropinion on this, since we have some very
knowledgeab
le people here.

If by "a salesperson that works where they sell windows vista," you mean
someone in a branch of one of the big nationwide chains like CompUSA,
Circuit City, or Best Buy, these are the least reliable source of any
computer information at all. Most of these people are chosen, not for their
computer skills, but for their willingness to accept something close to
minimum wage. Most people with real skills are capable of getting much
better jobs than selling in such stores. That of course doesn't mean that no
employee of such a store knows anything, but it certainly means that few of
them do.

Believe my views on Vista or not, as you choose, but whatever you do, don't
believe such people.
