Re: Allocate C: drive outside of Windows

How do I allocate the C: drive?

I don't really understand what you mean by "allocate the C: drive". If you are trying to delete some files left over by a failed antivirus uninstall, there are some things you can do:

1. If the antivirus is McAfee or Norton, there are uninstallation tools for each of these programs:

McAfee Removal Tools/Instructions

http://tinyurl.com/q7nsf - Removing and reinstalling Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiSpam, or Norton Personal Firewall (2006/2005/2004 versions)
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem2.htm

If this is your case, try the correct tool.

2. If #1 isn't applicable, you can try deleting the files in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode, repeatedly tap the F8 key as the computer is starting up. Use the arrow key to select Safe Mode.

3. If you still can't delete in Safe Mode, you may need to take ownership of the files and/or change their attributes. See this link for Take Ownership: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421

If you need more help, please post back with more details such as the name of the antivirus, how you "deleted" it, the exact location of the files, and the exact text of any error messages you receive when trying to delete the files.
