Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Your Paint program is located at: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mspaint.exe . Type
that when you establish your desktop shortcut rather than "%systemroot% and
so forth. I would recommend you copy and paste it exactly as I have it. Hope
it resolves your problem.

Again, the first method asked me for the Service Pack 2 CD.
I decided to take a chance and insert my Beta Windows XP service Pack 2 CD.
It attempted to get files D:\i386 from the CD, but then decided that it
couldn't do this. (everytime I clicked "OK", i got the error "CLUNK" sound.)

I have installed Windows XP several times before, but I have never managed
to install an operating system without the Manufacturer's recovery disk.
Therefore, I have absolutely no idea at all, which are the "appropriate
folders" to move these executable files to.
Also, the first two files are OK so far, but the third link seems to be the
wrong link. Sorry.
The others are sitting on my desktop, waiting for confirmation.

I got the expected error messages. I tried the shortcut method, but
mspiant.exe isn't available.
Like I originally thought "it's gone, somehow".

now I have PAINT in the drop-down list from Accessories, but there is no
program there.
Actually, now I look again, WordPad and Calculator also have the same
icon.
