drive to
install win xp home edition?
facts:
when i insert the win xp home cd into cdrom, it boots and
load all
the files prior to installation, in this phase, win setup can
not
detect the hard drive and thus the installation is aborted.
i do not have neither floppy drive nor win xp home bootable
discs.
kindly advise.
The first part of your question is a little confusing.
How exactly did you delete the system partition on your laptop?
Also, what exactly does "this laptop is shipped with no ms
operating system(win xp home edition herein.)" mean?
Are you saying that Windows wasn't installed on the laptop or
that they didn't supply you with an installation CD?
Your laptop probably has a SATA hard drive. To install Windows
XP on a SATA hard drive you have to provide the correct drivers
on a floppy disk when you come to the screen where it says at
the bottom "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI
or RAID driver...". Since you don't have a floppy drive, you're
stuck.
Note: I don't know if it's possible to use a USB floppy drive
to provide the SATA drivers during installation. I've seen
references to the ability to integrate the drivers into your
installation CD but I have never tried it.
Since this is a new laptop, I suggest you contact HP's tech
support and ask them for assistance in installing XP.
Good luck
