basically my laptop was hacked, and one of my friends, did a scan
well that is what he told me, that probably somebody hacked my
computer while i was browsing, and some files were moved and others
currupted, and also had a virus, i did use many programs to scan for
errors, even took it to a local repair shop so they can check it, and
they told me almost same thing as my friend, that some files were
currupted, right in the main core i guess you can call it that, and i
could only turn it on in SAFE mode, but i couldnt do much, only turn
on computer, and browse my files, at the moment i'm backing up all my
data, while using my friend's laptop for the moment

Unfortunately, you're not providing any *specific* information. If you
did, you might very well be able to solve your problem(s).

It sounds that you probably picked up malware from the Internet. I have
no idea how. Could have been P2P, opening an e-mail with a virus
attachment, downloading a rogue spyware program--any number of things.

You didn't tell us which anti-virus or anti-spyware programs were used
or the identities of suspicious files. Perhaps your friend who looked at
it did even more damage to it, which might explain why the local shop
couldn't do much of anything. I suppose we could try to figure out why
you can only boot in safe mode, but perhaps at this point a clean
install (or perhaps a repair) might need to do.

What kind of disk was furnished with your laptop? A reinstallation CD? A
recovery CD?

Have you seen:

You can always click on the link to "Contact a Dell Technician" or the
link to "Chat with a Customer Service Representative." Tell them about
your key problem. Perhaps they can give you a key which will work.

Have you tried using the key you got from Belarc Advisor yet?

But I'm still puzzled by your statement that the "product key label is
like half missing." How does something like this happen. Did somebody
take a razor blade to the sticker?
