Ok to
Step 6 : In the Open box, press CTRL+V and then click OK. At this point
the Search Results window appears.

So what exactly is it that you're pasting into the Run box?

Paste it into a message and post back.

Step 1,2,3 ok. CTRL+C copies the location as confirmed by seeing it in
Wordpad. The location is NOT the long string that you suggested it would
be
as when I was having problems I changed the location. This is a option in
the dialog box and you must restart to have the change take effect. Ok to
Step 6 : In the Open box, press CTRL+V and then click OK. At this point
the Search Results window appears. No way to do Step 7, etc. I think I
need to clean out the changes I made to the location and let the machine
enter the correct (long string) location. Is there a way to do that?

Another strange event is after the restart and before start is completed
a
window appears that shows copying Outlook Express Store Files but the
window does not indicate to where the files are being copied.

kb27067 does not exist. MS KB articles have six (6) numbers. You left
one
out.

I found it.

How to back up and recover Outlook Express data
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270670

Open Outlook Express.
Click Tools, then click Options.
Click the Maintenance tab, then click the Store Folder button.
Hit your Tab key on the keyboard twice, until the text is highlighted.
Then hit Ctrl + C to copy the test.

The text has to be highlighted before you can copy it.

It will be something like this...
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{Long letters and numbers}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Nothing will happen to show that you have copied anything.

Open notepad and hit Ctrl + V to paste what you copied as a double
check.

With XP HE and following kb27067 I am confused. The third step is
"Select the folder location and then press CTRL+C to copy the location.
I do this by scrolling over the file location dialog box and with the
release of CTRL+C there is a flash of a circle. Does this indicate the
Store Folder location has been copied correctly? Step 4 : click cancel
and then click cancel again to close the dialog box. Step 5 : click
start then click Run. Step 6: In the Open box press CTRL+V, and then
click OK. With the press CTRL+V action a location different from the
one saved appears. Entering the saved location from the keyboard and
clicking OK causes the Search Results screen to appear. Step 7 : On the
Edit Menu, click Select All. I never get to Step 7. Is there a way to
clear the location or set a default location and start all over?
