Of course USB might be turned off in the BIOS but it can't be unless someone
did it. Starting to look like motherboard damage to me.
There is a registry hack to turn on auto detection of USB items. I'll see if
I can find reference to it.

I have removed and rebooted system with usb's in and then with the same usb
sources removed-there was no difference. WinXP rebooted and reloaded the
drivers for hosts and enhanced. WinXP still does not recognize anything
plugged ionto the ports.
