Re: Problem with computer shutdown

I got that exact error recently when I inserted an extra stick of RAM that
(obviously) was suspect. I realise my suggestion sounds rediculous, but if
you have spare ram lying around, give it a try first.
In my case I tried several other sticks & never got that message but by
reinserting the suspect one, it re-appeared.

Research suggests it is a driver related to Sound Max Digital Audio.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties. Hardware,
Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

You seem to have posted an error in the Stop Error message omitting
the letter D.

Stop 0x000000D1

Hope this helps.

I posted on here before about this and now have more information.

The messages are as follows:

DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

smwdm.sys Address File 7E0E424 Base @ F7DF6000 Date Stamp 3f5f6eba

Stop 0x000000001 (0x0000000c,[more like a "u" on it's side] 0x0000002,
0x00000000, 0xF7E0E424)

The system crashes when trying to handle large media files, or a large
volume of media files, such as trying to burn a CD, or downloading
multiple mp3 files to an IPOD (usually around 8 or more). Properties
indicates that it is from Sound Max - the audio card manufacturer. Would
I be correct that this file is the culprit? Any help appreciated.
