When trying to use the factory supplied recovery cd for a Toshiba
Satellite Pro 6100 laptop, I receive the error message that the cd
is not for the satellite 6100 but instead is for the satellite 6100
and cannot be run on a satellite 6100. Please insert the 6100
recovery disk. Like I said, the laptop is a 6100 and the disks came
with the laptop. Bought the laptop directly from Toshiba. Any ideas?

Did you multipost this?
Unfortunately for you, your support for this media is Toshiba. No one
can help you. They created this recovery system. It has nothing to dowith
the Operating System. It was their way of saving money and still being inActually, I thought that there was a possibility of the machine ID being
compliance with the agreement they had with Microsoft.

corrupt and that I may be able to possibly change it. I got as much from
several error messages I recieved while trying to work around this myself.
Unfortunately I've only been able to reproduce the error message while in
Safe Mode and it states that the machine ID can't be changed in safe mode.
If i'm getting a message claiming an incorrect or corrupt machine ID it
sure seems to me that it would be coming from the OS.
Yes, I've posted this to several groups.
