Doesn't xp have a program that is an alternative
to explorer to view files and folders??

Not as part of XP, but you can still use good old Winfile. My copy is
copyright 1996, so it must have come with Windows 95. There's no
"common tasks" pane, and I don't see any of the special Windows
virtual folders like My Music. Depending on your perspective, that
can be a good thing. :-)
