Re: Password On Logon

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Robert,
The first Administrator is the built-in, the second is the one you created
at setup. In Windows Xp Home you can logon with administrator account only
in safe mode, you cannot see it in normal startup. I am glad we solved the
problem.

Thanks again Anton,
I have it now. Before when I went into User Accounts I had two
Administrators.
Under User Name I had Administrator and Bob Craig (my name)Administrator.
I guess I chose The first one instead of the one with my name.
Could you tell me why there are two Adminstrator's listed?
Thanks again for your help.
Robert

Hi Robert,
Which account did you enter on the Automatic Logon Windows? Does the
computer stop responding or just hangs on logon? Try running the computer
in selective mode, just follow this steps.
1. Click Start/run and type msconfig
2. Click to select Selective Startup
3. Click to remove Load Startup Item
4. Open Services tab and click to select Hide All Microsoft Services
5. Click Disable All
6. Click Ok and Restart
Does the computer boot automaticaly in selective mode? Try creating new
user account and set automactic logon for that one
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279783)?

Thanks for your help Anton.
I tried the following steps that you gave me but when I rebooted the
computer would just go to the XP screen and stop.
Tried it several times with the same results.
Had to go to safe mode and reenter my password.

thanks again.

Robert

You can also follow this steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
3. Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer" check box, and then click Apply.
4. In the Automatically Log On window, type the password in the
Password box, and then retype the password in the Confirm Password box.
5. Click OK to close the Automatically Log On window, and then click OK
to close the User Accounts window.
