Re: Adding google buttons made another button disappear!

I don't know why this happens, but it always seems to happen dealing with
the Google toolbar:
Close all Windows Explorer's and all IE Windows.

1. Open regedit
2. Go to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser
3. In right panel locate: ITBarLayout
4. Delete it.
5. Go to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer
6. In right panel locate: ITBarLayout ... Delete it.
7. Go to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser
8. In right panel locate: ITBarLayout ... Delete it.

In essence this removes the toolbar layouts for Windows Explorer, IE, and
Shell Browsers (the window that opens when you click on a Web-enabled link
in an appliaction).

After deleting these items, open the app, right click on the Address Bar (or
some other toolbar area), and select what you want.

I would Bookmark these items in the Registry (there is an option Favorites
in regedit), because this normally happens each time the Google toolbar is
updated.

Correct! The Norton is checked and the Google is unchecked!

If so (which has been a known problem with toolbars and Google), then the
Toolbar Layout registry setting is hosed.

What does "hosed" mean?

Let me know if the right click shows the toolbar options for Norton and
Google, but the selections are screwed up. I will tell you the registry
key
to delete so that the key get re-created to correct the problem.

Okay, thanks! See above.

You can also check this in Windows Explorer.

Right beneath the address bar is a border with numerous buttons on it
(is this border called the tool bar? I'm not sure!). I used to have
two Norton AntiVirus pull down menu buttons on there. Since Google
asked me whether I wanted to update their buttons, only one is on there
now and I want the other one back!

How do I do that?
