the pics after they were copied to my hard drive. Today I went to view the
pics and only about 8 out of 100 are now viewable. Even jpg's that were in
that folder previous to last night are now unreadable. They all have the
correct file size and name but are unreadable for some reason.
Any ideas?
Thank You

Is the rest of your Windows installation as far behind in updates as your Outlook Express?

Kevin's level of OE is exactly the same level as mine and I am set up for automatic updates, always have been. Exactly how would any of that keep him from reading jpg's?
No, you're updated with all the critical updates, he hasn't updated since installing SP2.
You are, however, missing an optional update.
There are two articles, KB918766 and KB918651, but the latter is not currently available. The download link is
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=86b68a78-f325-4a95-98c2-98af2256ccc3&DisplayLang=en
It places the backup in Recycled, overwriting any earlier backup of the same folder(s). To use it, copy it to the store folder, delete the one you want to replace and then rename the BAK file to DBX. (It's a bit more complicated if the messed up DBX file isn't there or contains messages that are new that you want to keep.
