Re: RECYCLE BIN: Cannot remove folder aux: The directory name is

I now have an empty recycle bin again... :-)

Using the advice under clause 6 of the link you gave, I was able to remove
the offending folder that was causing my problem.

Thanx for ther help.

It's not a corrupt file...

It does appear to be a file with an invalid Win32 filename. So although I
can see it, it appears as though Windows doesn't know how to handle it.

Maybe you have a corrupt file.

Run Error Checking. Reboot. Try to empty the Recycle Bin again.

Error Checking (chkdsk.exe).
1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, right-click the drive you want to
check, and then click Properties.
2. On the Tools tab, click Check Now.
3. Select both of these:

o Automatically fix file system errors
o Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors

You have to reboot for Error-checking to run.

For a look at the chkdisk log.
Open the Event Viewer...

I eventually managed to locate the offending folder, hidden in the
special recylcer folder on one of my hard drives.

And although, I can list the offending directory using the command
prompt, I still cannot do anything with it, such as renaming, moving or
deleting... It keeps coming back as an invalid file.

I did find a way to make the recycle bin icon to appear empty, but you
can still right click on the recycle bin, and select to empty it.

Although there are no objects listed in my recycle bin, there is an
invisible entry I just can't get at & remove. Hence, my recycle bin
always appears to have something in it.

I've followed known solutions for entries which give 'access is
denied' when you try to empty them from the recycle bin, but those
don't appear to work here.

Can anyone help?
