HELP!!!!! no sound

i bought my Presario 700 laptop and i found out that the XP pro i got
with it was counterfiet after i tried to update it i'm not sure if that
has any thing to do with it

any way my sound is playing but no sound is coming out in any program
headphones or speakers yes the volume is turned up and there seems to
be all the drivers installed aswell as the hardware says its working i
dont know were to start now i've passed my experience point and this is
the first time i've used these groups so i hope i posted to the right
place (someone tell me if i havn't
