Thank you everyone the registry keys were the kickers, just
what I needed to get rid of 50 entries that were unneeded.
Thanx again Bruce

Can someone tell me how to get rid of the entries on the
Startup in the System Configuration Utility. I have about
40 entries that are not checked off and some of those are
doubles. Thanks for any help

Run the script located on line 148 right hand column, Clear
Disabled Items From Msconfig Startup and Selective,
Courtesy of Kelly Theriot, MS-MVP
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
FYI, the unchecked items listed in msconfig are located in
these two registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder Deleting the subkeys contained
within those keys will
remove the unchecked entries from msconfig.
Good luck
