Re: Download WinXP SP2

Yes, that's the file I downloaded to my CD burner. No problem thanks to
high speed internet. I clicked it to extract it and it started the
installer. However, I found the temp folder it extracted everything to,
then copied all that to another folder on the hard drive, then I cancelled
the install after I copied all the files.

I thought that this version though was for networks, and that I would only
need one of the extracted files for the SP2 update and not all the other
network files/stuff.

Just wondered which file(s) it was in the haystack, just the update.exe, or
the whole UPDATE folder, or the whole downloaded file?

Thanks,
Ken

When you download the full version of SP2 you should end up with a file
named WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe. Burn this file to a CD. When you
want to install Service Pack 2 double click the file and the installation
should start automatically.

If you've extracted the installation files, you can begin the installation
by double clicking the update.exe file in the I386\update folder. All the
installation files must be burned to a CD if you plan on installing it on
another computer.

Good luck

OK, I downloaded the full version. Which of the extracted
files in which folder is the 'SP2' (only) that can I burn to
a CD?

I want to download Windows XP SP2 for use on a single
computer so that I can burn it onto a CD as I need it to
fix problems with IIS installation. However, on the update
site it only allows you to install it, not download to
burn it onto a CD, unless of course you download the
network version which is elsewhere on the Microsoft site.
Is there a place I can download (without installing) the
single PC version so that I can then burn it to a CD?

Thanks,

You can download the full version if you want to install it
on a single computer. Keep in mind that the file is 266 MB.
Hopefully, you've got a broadband connection.

Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2

If downloading the full version is not an option, you might
want to order the CD:

Good luck
