Also, make sure you reset the swap file after installing the new RAM. During
install, XP manually sets the swapfile size, if you add more RAM you need to
increase it or set it to auto.

You got it correct.
It will run but slowly, other than that no problems with Windows XP.
Simply install the new memory when it arrives and your friend will see a
huge difference in performance.

site. (Doh!). The answer is XP Home will actually run in 64mb. But not
very well.

I'll be installing XP Home on a friend's computer this weekend, but the
512mb memory I ordered won't get there until I'm about to leave. She has
128mb. Will XP install and run in that? I anticipate much swapping to
disk.
