Have you tried charting in Excel?

PrtScrn>Paste into IrfanView doesn't ungray-out the
Paste option for me. I don't even have a good way to
get from my graph screen out to Desktop, which
might be the basic problem.

As for Excel, I do not use any of the expensive
business-oriented (i.e. non-scientific intended)
software packages.
