Switching Audio devices

Just bought a headset.
Even tho the USB jack is in the front of the computer, I don't like the idea
of unplugging/re-plugging. I would like to switch between devices.

I have tried the control panel.. and it works, but it would be nice to bind
a key or something rather than have to open the panel. Really this is
daughter's comp, and I don't want her to have to jump through hoops.

How do you switch audio from headphone to speakers and vice-versa, without
opening up control panel and selecting a new default?
