Re: How do I reinstall outlook express?

Hi Rick.. I sent your information to my friend Ruth, who used to be a member
here and was my technical advisor... for a long time.. here is the email she
sent me.. "apparently" that is only for OE5 and not for 6, if she is wrong..
please let me know... here is her response to my email Is she right?
thanks Rainy

I checked it out. I think that is only for OE5....I found this:

HOW TO REINSTALL OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5.x

1) Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files and Folders.

2) In the Search for Files and Folders Named box, type msoe50.inf, and then
click Search. (The default location for this file is in the C:\Winnt\Inf
folder.)

3) Right click the Msoe50.inf file, and then click Install.

4) Insert your Windows CD-ROM when prompted, locate the I386 folder on the
CD-ROM, click Open, and then click OK.

HOW TO REINSTALL OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6.0

Hi Rainy,

It's easier just to right click the msoe50.inf file under C:\Windows\Inf
and choose "install".

Hi Don.. When you try to reinstall the same version of Internet Explorer,
you may receive the following error message:
Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed
on this system.
Setup cannot continue. To avoid this error message and reinstall the same
version of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, follow these steps:

While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then click
Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled
(REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.
To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP,
use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

To reinstall only Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP, use the following
registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.

Quit Registry Editor, and then install Internet Explorer 6, Outlook
Express will come along..
