I have Xp Pro, and when I boot up I don't get a choice of which account to
select, it just goes straight into Windows. I must explain that I know just
enough about my computer to get myself into trouble.


You configured Windows XP Pro to login automatically. That means it logs in under whatever account to told it to login under. Although you can change that behavior, there is nothing stopping you from logging out and logging back in under a different existing account, so just login under the Administrator account.
