First be advised that the 512 MB RAM is your system's memory and the 80 Gigs
is your system's hard drive size. People seem to confuse storage space with
memory and often call it that.
You might try posting a description of your problem to the forum here
http://aumha.net/ These folks know their stuff and can guide you through an
examination of what might be installed on your computer that causes
performance problems.
Before you do a clean install remember to back up your important data to
removable storage like CD-R or DVD. What is important to you only you can
decide. Ensure you have your Windows Product Key, and other software
serial/registration numbers on hard copy somewhere. Some folks get into the
middle of a reinstall and realize that they can't find their Product Key so
they are really in trouble. What type of restore process are you going to
use? Do you have an actual Windows XP Home Edition CD or did you receive a
Restore CD or Recovery CD from the manufacturer?
