ME - XP dual boot.....

I have set up a computer for dual boot with ME on the first, (outer)
partition and XP Pro on the second partition. Neither of the partitions are
hidden when booted to the other.

What I actually did was to install a new hard drive disc and partition it
with two primary partitions. Then I copied the old ME system, with all it's
installed programs, from the old hard drive to the first partition of the
new hard drive. Then a new install of XP was placed on the second partition
of the new drive. The system has been working fine for two or three weeks
but now ME is getting a little "spooky" and System Restore in ME does not
work. Now I am thinking about again re-copying the original ME system from
the old hard drive over the current one that is acting up.

My problem is: I think XP wrote to the boot sector when it was installed in
order to run it's boot menu. If I do copy over the ME system again will XP
still work and what will I need to do in order to get the XP boot menu
working again???

Thanks again in advance for any help.
