Re: wireless service causes problems

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Thanks Doug

I was hoping that this was the case. I have been having problems with error
messages such as

"Windows cannot find '/idlist,:520:1592,'. Make sure you typed the name
correctly, and then try again. to search for a file, click the start button
and then click search".

and Alan Edwards suggested that this finding and disabling the service that
caused the problem. I didnt want to bother him so much with my issues - he
was very helpful already. With Zcfgsvc disabled the message doesnt occur.

I like your website. My XP help facilitity is the site that Alan is part
of, Kelly's Corner and yours. Keep up the good work - you provide a
valuable service to users.

Windows XP support Wireless Zero Configuration. You don't need the Intel
configuration/control software. To let Windows manage the wireless
settings, right click My Network Places and select Properties. Right click
your wireless connection and select Properties. On the Wireless Networks
tab, check the box Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
Use the settings here to configure your wireless connection.
