The posting may be more appropriate at another newsgroup. At this prestn I
dont know the appropriate one.
I may need to know DHCP.
I have a DLINK video device attached to my wireless LinkSYS router with two
other wired PCS. For some reasons, the video device wont let others see me,
but I always see them. I have tried disabled firewalls, but this is not the
problem. Also, I have configured DMZ on the router setup. But it is not the
solution.
The video menu needs configuration. The menu has DHCP and FIXED options.
Currently DHCP is marked indicating it is enabled.
I understand that DHCP is a protocol or server to handle changing ip
addresses from the outside world ..INTERNET and then assign private ips
through router to the network.
I am not clear why the check next to DHCP because I thought my ISP Comcast
is having their own DHCP server. Therefore, I dont need one on my home
windows xp. The check
(mark) seems to indicate that I am enabling DHCP server on my Windows XP
Home Edition. I dont think Windows XP home edition includes this server
package.
I need to know if I should let DHCP mark omitted ( disable it). More likely
I misread it. Correction may help.
