True, and over and above that, most html messages are strident,
jarring, and often ugly. Someone else's ideas of what is pretty
or cute are not necessarily mine. As a single example, I remember
once getting an E-mail message with red text on a black
backround; it was nearly impossible to read, and I just deleted
it.

Also html messages can carry malware and are potentially
dangerous.

For these reasons, I prefer plain text and have both my
newsreader and E-mail client set to read all messages in plain
text.
