Peter there is no such thing as a -CD or a +CD. There are CD-R and CD-R/W
discs. However the "-" doesn't denote anything other than being there for
spelling purposes to separate the letters "CD" from the letters "R" or
"R/W".

On the other hand the "-" and "+" are important if you are using DVD discs.
But then you need to have a DVD writer as these do not work with a standard
CD Writer. A DVD -R or DVD +R are totally different formats from each other.
While most new DVD Writers can write to either -R or +R media there are
older DVD writers that will only use the format designed for that burner.
For example a DVD-R/DVD-R/W writer will not burn to DVD +R or DVD +R/W
discs. Hope I'm not confusing you too much here :-)

Back to CloneCD. If you are using a DVD disc in a CD Writer, the writer will
not recognize the disc as writeable media. That might be a reason why
CloneCD doesn't like the disc. On the other hand if you have a DVD writer
and using a DVD disc I think you need to use the correct version of CloneCD
which would be CloneDVD http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd.html

CloneDVD is only for copying DVDs and CloneCD is only for copying CDs.

CD Burning in XP can be the pits sometimes. You may wish to check Alex
Nichol's site here and see if anything in the Problem's section fits for you
http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm

By the way what specific Microsoft program are you trying to copy. As far as
I know Microsoft doesn't use copy protection on their software.
