His problem is using the mouse, not a broken keyboard ("I am not too
comfortable in using separate keyboard and mouse."); what he needs is how to
move the mouse pointer around using the keyboard, not how to use the mouse
as a keyboard. ("I am trying to find an utility that enables keypad on the
keyboard on the right for mouse movements.")
At this point I am not even too sure that he understood the suggestion that
someone else gave him about using a laptop. If he is not too comfortable
with moving a mouse around, unless a mousepad works for him, but sometimes
older people (and I am not saying he is one) among others who cannot control
too well their had movements can have a hard time dealing with either type
of mouse.
Telling him where to find keyboard shortcuts, such as Alt+Tab to change from
window to window, besides all the ones that David kindly furnished would
probably help him best. Unfortunately my memory does not allow me to
remember where to find these shortcuts. Also, if memory serves me correctly
on this one, there used to be a utility that would allow the mouse to scroll
off one edge of the screen and re-appear on the opposite edge, allowing him
to move "cursor from one place to another distant location on display
screen."
