Sharon, thanks for the response.
When I tried what you suggest ... "right click the subfolder then select the
file type", it no longer only searches the folder I highlighted, unless I
choose all file types and type in the extension I'm looking for. It's wierd
... or do you think I'm missing something?

David's given you the "how" for file types. To search a particular
folder/subfolder structure, right click on the main folder and select
Search. Then file in your file types in the resulting search window.
