I have a Dell (Pent4) and am having the same problem.
Everything shuts down but the power remains on. I have a smartmedia reader
with a power light. The light stays on. My monitor also stays on thought the
screen is black. I've left it that way for hours seeing if it would ever
finish shutting down. (It never did.)
I have to either unplug the CPU or press an hold the power button for 10
seconds to completely power down. This has always taken place during an
attempt to restart my computer. (I've never tried to shut down, always
restart.)
I hope someone sees this thread and responds.
