Thanks.
I do already run a daily virsus scan & a weekly run of Adware 6.0 (updating
it, before each scan. It normally just finds cookies. As I have a router &
third party firewall, I'm not too desparate to change from IE & OE. I tried
Opera & I found it far more efficitent with memory use (I could start the
same homepage in IE & Opera & both took about 20 Meg. But Opera released
most of it soon afterwards. Also, I kinda like Xnews too. If I can get my
iBook up & running again, I'll be back to using Safari, Mail (& Thoth for
Usenet). I used to use MS Entourage as a mail client....................but
it kept crashing :o)
But I will try RegVac. I've never been keen on manually editing the
registry - I didn't want to take the time, to learn how. I think I'll
recheck my router settings too - see if I can improve. So, I don't think
I'll bother with SP2 for now - I think the risk of breaking something is
greater than the improvements it brings. I'm waiting to do a clean install
of Longhorn, once the official version ships.
I'm off now to talk to Iomega about their DVD drive (after 4 hours today,
I've come to the conclusion it's doing some weird stuff).
Thanks again.................Dave C.
