What is the make and model of your computer? I've never had an Iomega
product (or a laptop), but I used SyQuest removable drives for a decade or
more (before the company went bankrupt and Iomega bought the pieces).
SCSI devices use "host adapters", rather than "controllers". (But my Device
Manager does list "SCSI and RAID controllers"; under that are my Adaptec
SCSI host adapter and my SATA RAID controller.) Most computers don't have
SCSI devices or host adapters. It seems to me that you should be looking
for the parallel port in Device Manager.
What DO you see in Device Manager? The word "parallel" probably won't
appear, but you should have a heading called "Ports (COM & LPT)". Click the
plus sign and you should see one or more COM ports, plus one or more that
might have various labels. My parallel port is labeled "ECP Printer Port
(LPT1)". Do you have any such items listed?
Since it worked before and "suddenly" stopped, you apparently had all the
hardware, settings and drivers that you needed until then. What might have
caused the change? Did you add some other hardware that might now be
usurping your parallel port? Or did you remove something that would cause
your Iomega port to change from LPT2 to LPT1, for example?

Reminds me of the stories of the rich Indians who would buy a new Cadillac
when the old one ran out of gas. ;^{ That "solution" is drastic and
unnecessary - and probably wouldn't solve your problem, anyhow.
