Again, thanks, Vang, for the detailed and informative
posting. I have saved it in my separate large file
on this subject, and I may have the courage to follow
where it leads, but not right now. It is too big an
undertaking, I fear. It's almost a case of the cure
being worse than living with the disease.

Just one point: the error message which appears when
I select RC at boot-up, I quoted exactly and completely.
I noted that the last component of the sequence which
should have defined the extension of the reportedly
'missing' file didn't really identify it, but that's
what was on my screen.
