I don't really know anything about nor have I tried Partition Magic's copy
function. If I wanted a fully bootable copy on a hard drive on the same
system, I'd either install it separately, quite time consuming and I'm sure
you wish to avoid or I'd use Drive Image or any such app to image it to the
first drive to the second drive.

I don't know if this works on a separate hard drive on XP, especially if it
is removable or removed. I don't know at what point you run into issues
over the activation elements in XP, possibly corrupting the hal.dll in which
case you'd have to do a repair install each time you wanted to boot from the
other hard drive. I'm not saying that's how it will happen, I have never
tried what you are doing.

Have you tried this question on the Hardware board. Someone over there
might have a better fix on this and better yet, are doing it and can guide
you better.
