RE: Start up

You stated the problem started a couple of weeks ago. Have you tried
a System Restore to before the problem started? You can go back up
to 90 days. I do not believe it to be a hardware problem, but very
likely a XP System file problem.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

You can also do a System File Checker to check for corrupt system files.
Start>Run>type SFC /SCANNOW and press OK (space between C and /).
This will activate the file checker and if it finds any corrupt files may
ask you
to insert your WindowsXP installation disk to replace missing or corrupt
files.
Good Luck :~) and happy putering.

Don't start it in the morning, afternoons only! Just kidding.
Go to: Start>Run>type MSCONFIG and click OK
Click the Startup tab and see all that are checked/enabled.
Uncheck/disable all except your anti-virus app>click Apply>Close
and reboot. After reboot, close window stating you've changed
your startup. Are you still having the problem? If not, you can
run MSCONFIG again and recheck/enable the items you had checked
ONE-AT-A-TIME to find which one is the culprit causing this situation.

again to restart;than it works w/o any problems. When I have to restart it
for example after an update etc no problems: the pc seems to have problems
only in the morning at the first and "cold" start.I regularly update it. Can
