Every time I print the command: format C:
It will not let me. I will have an error message stating that another
program is using the drive. It will ask if you want to force dismount.
If I say "y" (yes), the whole screen will disappear.
Can anybody tell what to do to format the hard drive in this situation?
You cannot format the drive you boot from. Boot your machine from a Win2000
CD.
Remember formatting will destroy ALL the material on your HDD, software,
emails, documents, every thing. Also ensure that you have the correct
drivers for you hardware including the motherboard.
You may have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order so that the CD
drive boots before the HDD.
All though the following refer to XP the steps for Win200 should be similar.
