spell check

Microsoft Word spell check works when composing letters, but when I use
spell check with Outlook Express 6 I receive:

'an error occured while the spelling was being checked'.

Any suggestions? When I hit send, I get:

'the spell check on this document was halted. Do you want to send
anyway?'

I'm bummin'.
